The Creative Process Continued

“The creation of any work of art doesn’t commence as a conscious or tactical enterprise … Things seem to find their way into out stories apparently of their own accord, and to do so again and again … But the fact remains that you put these things in your story for a reason, and they are, almost certainly, related both to one another and to the real subject of your story, the one you may not even know about.” -- Justin Cronin in “Down the Deep Well of Gravity” [Crafting Fiction, Poetry, & Memoir: Talks from the Colgate Writers’ Conference, 2008]
