“Redundancy is one of the carnal sins of writers.” -- Sandy Tritt in “Say it Once, Say it Right.”
Redundancy creeps into my writing, especially in first drafts. I see a lot more of it in the submissions I receive and stories I critique. I find it occasionally in published novels. Redundancy appears to be a problem for many writers. If I were an artist, I’d create an icon with a red circle and diagonal line over the word. You know what I mean. It could go on t-shirts and be sold at various writing sites, bookstores, libraries, conferences etc.
