Eliminating "Fat Words"

“. . .just as a padding of fat blurs the shape of the human body, so does a padding of ‘fat words’ blur the shape of your story.” -- Mary Rosenblum in Why Flash? Why Bother?
Ms. Rosenblum goes on to state this blurring can cause the reader to lose interest because she must expend more energy than needed to translate the written words into a satisfying and coherent picture in her mind. This is great reading whether you plan to write 500 words or 500 pages.
