“We often hear even modern writers speak of their work as somehow outside their control, informed by a spirit that, when they read their writing later, they cannot identify as having come from themselves.” -- John Gardner in The Art of Fiction.I haven’t experienced this yet, and sometimes I wish I could attribute what ends up on the page to someone else. :) Even those stories whose words flow through my fingers and onto the screen with little effort, end up requiring a lot of hard work and conscious effort.
